Feature Blogger: Whale Rider

Since Hemi wasn't allowed to go on the boat, do you think he would've been the one to find the whale tooth and give it back to Koro? Would Koro appreciate Hemi more than he does now?

  1. Very interesting question. I don't know that Koro would have appreciated Hemi anymore. I do believe Koro was looking for a replacement for his son who disappointed him and possibly was looking to Hemi to fill that void.

  2. I don't think that Hemi would have been the one to find Koro's whale tooth. Even though he was a great learner and student, he wasn't the chosen one as Pai was. If Hemi were to find the whale tooth, I think Koro would still be hard on him, but he would appreciate his talents and efforts.

  3. I personally don't believe that Hemi would have found the whale tooth, should he have been allowed to go on the boat because Pai was the chosen leader. I do think Koro may have appreciated him more if he would have found the tooth because he was seeking out a male leader and this would have better put his mind at ease, but he may also have been harder on him.

  4. I personally don't believe that Hemi would have been able to find the whale tooth if he was on the boat. I also believe that Koro's knew that he wasnt going to be able to find the whale tooth, which is why he didnt have a problem telling him to stay behind.

  5. Hemi ruined his chances when he got beat by a girl. Nothing was going to save him after having suffered that disgrace. However, If that had not happened I believe that Hemi would have been the one to find the tooth but that that would not have stopped Koro from being hard on him. On the contrary, I believe Koro would have pushed the boy even harder to prepare him to be strong and withstand anything.
